National Torchbearer Program

JASC is one of many partnering organizations that collaborate with Go For Broke National Education Center’s (GFBNEC) National Torchbearer Program, which launched in 2023.

The GFBNEC National Torchbearers are community engaged young adults who are locally and nationally involved and committed to the Go For Broke spirit and legacy. They host and engage in a number of service and experiential learning activities throughout while applying the values of America’s Promise to contemporary issues of today through public programming and outreach.”

About the Torchbearers Program

The Torchbearers Fellowship brings together a diverse national network of young adults (ages 21–30) for a year of programming focused on identity, community, and social awareness. As Torchbearer Fellows, participants engage in conversations and activities that encourage them to listen, empathize, and take action around issues that shape our shared experiences — including privilege, discrimination, and collaboration.

Led by the Go For Broke National Education Center (GFBNEC) and the Los Angeles Torchbearers, the program partners with organizations across Oahu, Maui, Denver, San Francisco, Chicago, and Middlebury College to create local spaces for meaningful dialogue and connection. Upon completing the Fellowship, participants are invited to continue their involvement as National Torchbearers, helping to expand the program’s impact nationwide.

Fall 2025 Convening

From October 3–5, JASC proudly hosted the Fall Convening of the Torchbearers program in Chicago, in partnership with Go For Broke National Education Center. Our Chicago Torchbearers were thrilled to welcome fellows from across the country and highlight the city’s vibrant cultural landscape.

Throughout the weekend, participants explored Chicago’s architecture, history, and Japanese American community, while engaging in meaningful conversations, shared meals, and hands-on experiences designed to build connection and reflection.
