Japanese Cultural Programs & Classes in Chicago

JASC offers Japanese cultural and educational programs for all ages, including youth programs such as Tampopo Kai, Donguri Kai, children’s cooking classes, and Yo!Camp summer camp, as well as adult classes in Ikebana flower arranging, Japanese cooking, and Japanese language, along with conversation-based programs like Conversation Table and Nihongo Table.

For Children & Families

JASC offers programs for children and youth from preschool through high school that foster a lifelong connection to Japanese language, culture, and community. Through hands-on learning, cultural experiences, leadership opportunities, and plenty of fun, participants build skills, friendships, and a stronger sense of belonging.

For Adults

From Japanese language and conversation programs to cooking, Ikebana, and cultural arts, JASC offers opportunities for adults of all backgrounds to learn something new and connect with others. Our programs foster cultural understanding, lifelong learning, and a strong sense of community in a welcoming multicultural environment.

For Seniors

JASC offers opportunities for older adults to stay active, engaged, and connected through cultural programs, social activities, and community events. Whether participating in Adult Day Services or joining classes and programs open to all ages, seniors can find meaningful ways to learn, connect, and be part of our welcoming multicultural community.

For the Community

Community is at the heart of JASC. Through cultural events, language exchange, shared meals, and seasonal gatherings, we create opportunities for people of all backgrounds to connect, celebrate Japanese and Japanese American culture, and build meaningful relationships within our growing multicultural community.

Hosting & Partnerships

JASC welcomes partnerships with schools, libraries, corporations, and cultural organizations interested in Japanese and Asian American programming. Frequently Asked Questions

No. All of JASC’s cultural programs are open to anyone interested in Japanese and Japanese American culture. Many participants are not Japanese American. Everyone is welcome.

Tampopo Kai is designed for preschool age children from 0 to 5 years old. Donguri Kai is organized by age group: Little Kids, Big Kids, and Youth. Kids Day Camp and Yo!Camp serve elementary through middle-school ages. Specific age ranges are listed on each program page.

Yes. JASC’s language classes serve adult learners at various levels, plus Nihongo Table, a monthly conversation circle for practicing Japanese in a relaxed setting.

Each class page has a registration link or contact form. Most class fees are modes and JASC members receive priority registration.

Yes! JASC partners with schools, libraries, and corporations for AAPI Month events, cultural demonstrations, and ERG programming. Email jascinfo@jasc-chicago.org to discuss.
