Little Kids classes are for students in K-2nd grade who are learning Japanese for the first time or have had early exposure to Japanese at home.
Little Kids Class Offerings, Summer 2026
Tampopo Kai to Donguri Kai Transition Class
This class is for kindergarten and 1st graders who will be transitioning into Donguri Kai for the first time. This class is ideal for students who have outgrown Tampopo Kai and would like to continue their language learning journey with more classroom-focused structure.
Saturdays, 10:00 am –11:00 am (Central Time)
Format: In Person @ JASC (5700 N. Lincoln Ave.)

Class size: 8 students maximum
Fees: $100 for Members and $140 for Non-members

Beginner I
Thursdays, 5:00 pm –6:00 pm (Central Time)
This class is for students starting K – 2nd grade in Fall 2026 who will learn Japanese reading and writing for the first time. Students learn Japanese vocabulary, basic greetings, and conversational phrases. Class is taught in English.
Format: Online (Google Meet)
Class Dates: TBD
Class size: 8 students maximum
Fees: $125 for Members and $175 for Non-members

Tomoko Hanna（ハンナ朋子)
I have been teaching English and Japanese to adults and children since 1995. As a mother of two who speaks the two languages, I deeply understand the need for bilingual education in the U.S. Currently, I sub Tampopo class, and teach Baby Tampopo class and Japanese program at Banner Preschool.
