Join the Japanese American Service Committee for a special evening with Dr. Santa J. Ono, renowned biomedical scientist, academic leader, and President of the Ellison Institute of Technology at Oxford.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Ono has served as President of the University of Michigan, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Cincinnati. He has also been recognized for his contributions to international relations through his appointment as Honorary Consul of Japan in Cincinnati.

During this unique program, Dr. Ono will share reflections on his family’s immigration journey and his experience growing up as one of three sons of a world-renowned mathematician who was brought from Japan to the United States by the invitation of Robert Oppenheimer.

Following the presentation, Dr. Ono will join JASC CEO Hamilton Chang for a fireside-style conversation exploring themes of immigration, identity, leadership, and opportunity.

The evening will conclude with a networking reception featuring light refreshments. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour JASC’s newly renovated community and cultural center.
