Big Kids summer classes are for students in 3rd-6th grade who are learning Japanese for the first time or continuing their studies.
Big Kids Class Offerings, Summer 2025
Tuesdays, 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm (Central Time) and Wednesdays, 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm (Central Time)
Formerly Level 1 Returning Students Class. This class is for students in 3rd-5th grade who are continuing to learn Japanese. Students learn Japanese vocabulary, phrases, and simple sentence structure. They will also learn to identify and read the Japanese alphabets of Hiragana. Class is taught both in English and in Japanese.
Format: Online (Google Meet)
Session 1 Class Dates – Tuesdays: 6/17, 6/24, 7/1, 7/8
Session 1 Class Dates – Wednesdays: 6/18, 6/25, 7/2, 7/9
Class size: 6 students maximum

Fees: $100 for Members and $140 for Non-members
Session 2 Class Dates – Tuesdays: 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, 8/12
Session 2 Class Dates – Wednesdays: 7/16, 7/23, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13
Class size: 6 students maximum

Fees: $125 for Members and $175 for Non-members
Saturdays, 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm (Central Time)
This class’s level is Beginner’s 2 to Intermediate. Ideally, they can read/write Hiragana and some Katakana, and have some knowledge of Kanji.
First 45 minutes will be spent on studying grammar, vocabulary, and materials that are unique to in-person class. The second half will be provided with Japanese snacks and Japanese games/crafts. We will converse in Japanese while we eat and play.

Class size: 8 students maximum
