Intermediate I Classes

About Intermediate I Japanese Classes at JASC

Classes are offered throughout the year in four-session-blocks and each session is 8 weeks long. Students should expect to complete 3 chapters each session to ultimately complete the textbook, Japanese for Busy People III, at the end of the fourth session.

This level is designed as an easier entry point to the Intermediate level and great for students transitioning from Beginners II classes.

Progression through the textbook is not strictly set and may be adjusted during class to accommodate for students’ comfortability and learning.

Intermediate II Classes

About Intermediate II Japanese Classes at JASC

Classes are offered throughout the year in four-session-blocks and each session is 8 weeks long. Students should expect to complete 3 chapters each session to ultimately complete the textbook, Quartet I, at the end of the fourth session.

Intermediate II is designed to strengthen students’ Japanese language skills and build confidence in preparation for more advanced coursework. This level is ideal for students transitioning from Intermediate I or those who want additional practice before moving into more advanced material.

Students should be fully comfortable reading and writing hiragana and katakana and have a working knowledge of approximately 500–1,000 kanji.

Progression through the textbook is not strictly set and may be adjusted during class to accommodate students’ comfort levels, needs, and pace of learning.
